Kayak Gear
While the kayak is an outdoor activity, relatively safe, it is essential to take precautions to eliminate completely any element risk. Therefore, paddlers should always carry some gear that ensures basic kayaking them from any potential risks so they can enjoy the waves still more.
Basic Kayak Gear
It is important for all rowers – whether amateur or experienced, to carry some of the basics along with they. These are:
1. Kayak Helmets: Helmets are necessities for any session kayak, especially for white water or sea kayaking. Although helmets of different styles and models are available, we recommend buying paddlers who are strong and completely cover the head. Also, verify the size of helmet for a perfect fit before making a purchase. It should not simply choose a helmet based on its aesthetic function. There are even full helmet available that extend to cover entire jawline. If kayaking in difficult conditions, paddlers can choose multiple impact helmets protect your head especially whitewater kayaking.
2. Lifejackets Kayak: Like helmets, life jackets also come in different sizes and paddlers are encouraged to select the one that fits perfectly (embracing the body). This is especially true for women, young adults and children. While the selection of a lifejacket, choose the one that allows the arm movements freedom, good padding, preferably neoprene padding in the shoulders and the drainage holes. Most lifejackets available today have an extensible side panels which makes it easier to carry. Some jackets also have an open mesh fabric allows perspiration and body heat to escape and to maintain the optimum temperature body.
3. Kayak Gloves: There are special gloves for winter and summer kayaking, conditions that protect the hands and offer good grip to hold the pallets. These gloves are especially helpful during winter to avoid becoming numb hands and keep them warm throughout. Usually these are of neoprene gloves. For better protection, rowers even gloves can choose to kayak.
4. Kayak Wings: Wings are extremely important, especially during winter or in cold conditions. These suits are essential to maintain a constant body temperature and prevent any threat of hypothermia. While buying a dry suit a paddler must make sure they are durable and withstand all the rigors of kayaking. Furthermore, it is always recommended to opt for dry suits are not very tight, are breathable and do not restrict any movement.
5. Kayak Socks and Footwear: No special neoprene socks for kayaking that provide perfect cushioning and warmth. While the selection of shoes, kayak, paddlers also may choose to dress shoes or river shoes that provide good grip and protection.
6. Dry Bags Kayak: dry bags are essential to maintain your computer safe and dry, especially during sudden rains. These bags are made of nylon that keep water out and also keeps a lightweight.
7. Kayak Elbow: The elbow pads used by paddlers up the armor panels that protect the forearm and elbow, especially in whitewater kayaking. Moreover, the pads are very flexible to allow free arm movement while paddling.
