How much water is “normal” to come into the boat while on the water?
I understand that it is ok for some water to come into the boat while its on the water, but how much is too much? We started and stopped quite a few times and got about an inch of water. Also, how can I tell if I have an automatic bilge pump that will turn on when the water reaches a certain level? Is there a way to test when it will come on? Thanks for your help.
It’s common to get form very little to a couple gallons a week one way is to turn the “automatic” switch to off, and check the level every few days. If there’s say 4 inches in the bilge, turn the switch to auto, if it comes on you will know how much water it takes to turn it on, and you’ll note it will turn off before the bilge is dry. If it doesn’t come on wait a few more days and try again. Note this method also gives you an idea how fast you take on water. Good luck!
