Koi Pond: Which Pump Use
When I started in the pond and waterfall design and construction business in January 1982, I was asking the same question. I had a slight advantage over most when answering the question, "What can I use the bomb?"
I left the field of energy conservation, so I was smart about energy issues.
It was a challenge in the seventies, when I was trying to convince people that should buy the Mitsubishi compact fluorescent lamp energy saving. This was the first of its kind and the sale of $ 12 to $ 14. From its light output or light is equal to a 60-watt incandescent bulb, which sold for $ 60 in most stores. I needed to convince the engineer Betty Ford Hospital, than $ 12, 12-watt bulb would save the facility $ 35,000 per year in electricity costs. So I did, and he did!
Bombs do not are different when it comes to performance in relation to energy consumption. The golden rule is: If an appliance designed to be used only occasionally, rather than continuous, rest assured, is not designed or built to the highest industry standards in mind.
The sump pumps were designed to be submerged under water and pump the water to a different location. Its most common uses are in the basement, tanks, bilges, and that sort of thing. These pumps are just going by the demand, when a float control indicates a high water level.
Sump pumps were cheap to buy, since they were cheaply built. No matter who consumed more energy than the centrifugal pump more expensive, since only came in occasionally.
These pumps turned out to be perfect for get-rich-quick line the pond industry for three main reasons:
They were cheap to buy, like the shirts;
They were easy to install, and
They were easy to conceal.
A major drawback of the sump pumps the coating pond industry does not share with their clients is that they are literally sponges energy. But then that's not all forget to mention that their clients do general innocent and unsuspecting.
These easy to install, easy-to-liners to death that come with a warranty of 20-50 years (against manufacturing defects only) are actually a meal on the way to a gopher burrow, rat, mouse, squirrel, squirrel or muskrat.
How do I know? I replace bags of cement and steel bars for life and I wonder if the client if the online seller told the pros and cons on the line. (Most of the disadvantages, no!)
In addition to a sump pump costs twice that to operate a high efficiency, centrifugal pump, which connects easily. (Incidentally, the types of line changed the name to "submersible pump" and are now using the term "waterfall pump.") ponds built of concrete armor and anti-vortex drains depth rarely if ever cover.
In the magazine industry, Water Garden News, the vice president of product management Aquascape for the company said,
A lot of the time, the most energy efficient of the [collector] of the pump, less solid waste it can handle. Very often the consumer is excited, the pump will cost only $ 10 a month to run, but I did not know is that they will have to be there 3 times per week, cleaning the intake manifold of the [] of the pump to keep it going.
Water Garden News is a trade magazine that is for manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers in the area of water garden. This information was not in the eyes of consumers. Until now!
Pondless Waterfall Read my article entitled: Concrete vs. Pond Liner; ezinearticles.com. I cover the subject in depth, and expose the truth about the promoters of the lining of the pond. All costs involved in the construction pondless a cascade is analyzed by comparing the two techniques: the use of cement and steel bars or rubber coating.
The difference in energy cost between 5700 gallon per hour for sump pump and 5,800 gallons per hour high efficiency of the centrifugal pump is amazing. The sump pump uses double the energy, costs $ 171 more to buy, and the warranty is 6 months less! Look before you leap and research before mourn.
Koi happy, peace and joy.
