How to Catch Mangrove Snapper on the night
My most favorite fishing charter is the light in front of mangrove snapper fishing, especially at night. In Naples, Florida, where they operate, our main mangrove snapper, but also catch yellowtail, mutton and red snapper.
To catch snapper at night always requires knowledge and adherence to the basics. If the guidelines listed below will be successful and then find the same pleasure as hundreds of my clients have had in recent years.
The first order of business is to locate a place in the snapper venue in good number. Most cases this will be a ledge, wreck under water spring or even an area where barrel sponges are closely grouped.
Once you have determined where go fishing is essential to anchor the boat in the right place. To ensure that the boat is well I put a buoy located near where I want my boat to be position, after having left the anchor. Cyalume light stick or a small buoy attached to it makes it much easier to properly position the boat.
To get your boat properly located, drop your anchor in a manner to allow the boat to drift back toward the structure, but not above or beyond. Ideally would be a few feet above the tide from the point with the ocean current moving from the stern directly towards the place. This is extremely important.
After to position your boat, which must illuminate the water at the stern deck lights or other auxiliary lighting. After receiving the illuminated area should start Chumming, either by reducing to a handful of bait and cast into the water or the ground to put the fish in a bag hanging from the stern companion. Its line of Chum must ride the current on the submerged structure.
Now that all work is done the fun begins. I like to take a 7-foot casting rod, Newell 2 / 0 Rotary spool reel with 20 pound line with little or no weight and a 3 / 0 hook with a long handle. Disengage the reel and pull the line out and let it flow behind the boat. Hold the line to strip out until the bait is about 150 yards behind the boat and then, if they have not received a bite back and start again. I suggest that weight vary from nothing and gain so that the recipients of bait where the fish are hanging. Most cases that eventually reach the surface, but the weight is added bait fish closer to when you start first. Experiment with the weights and depths until you locate the school of fish.
If you follow these techniques and go to a place that has the fish I guarantee you will win over no time. Be patient but determined and will be rewarded.
