Can’t work out the run time of this battery…..here’s the details……?
Hi,
Ive got a rechargable sealed lead car battery by the company Fullriver. It reads DC 17-12, then it says:
12v 17ah/20hr (Cyclic application)
My question is: how long can this battery run for? For example, I am thinking of running a bilge pump off this battery and the pump is 12volts, and runs at 3 amps. How long could this pump run off this battery in a continuous run?
And I have a larger bilge pump that I am thinking of running off this battery. Its also 12 volts, but it runs at 10 amps.
Can you please tell me how long this battery could run either of these pumps, eg. 1 hour, 2 hours. 10 hours……etc…?

The ah (amp hour) rating usually assumes 10% current drain; in this case – 1.7 amps. With your current bilge pump, you will be drawing about twice this value so you won’t get the full 17 amp hours. I would expect that you would get about 2 to 2 1/2 hours run time.
With the 10 amp pump, maybe 10 to 15 min.
