How old should a fire extinguisher last?
The fire extinguisher in our house is over 10 years of age. The indicator shows that is fully charged, and has never been used. It is dry chemical type ABC. Is it okay to keep a few more years, and how long should an extinguisher of the latter normally?
Extinguishers can remain "usable" for a long time. I've seen some well feel more a decade and still be good:. Remember that some important these tips 1. Once you use a fire extinguisher, no matter how much of it has used, it must be recharged and, if the rechargeable type. 2. Keep an eye on the pressure gauge (in all units, but CO2) and make sure it is in the "Operator" range. Make sure the "pin" is in place and sealed there. 3. Once a year, commercial premises, you must have your units re-tested and certified by a professional. 4. Every six years, dry chemical (as ABC) and halogenated agents must admit, drain and refill. (This is a requiement in a commercial application.) 5. Every five years, water and CO2, the units should take and hydrostatic test. 6. Every 12 years, the chemical agent and halogenated Dry hydrostatic testing due to him. 7. When in doubt, consult a professional to take a look at the unit. 8.
