A fish finder be a good gift for a casual fisherman?
I am thinking specifically my dad likes to go ice fishing once in when in the winter in some lakes in the area. He is very keen and do not know a lot about fishing, nor has a large amount of equipment to help capture of different fish … but he knows a little about fishing and have some computers. It is a fish to find a good gift for someone like my dad? Or is that more fishermen hardcore who know a lot about fishing and having the right equipment to catch some fish? I do not want to get him something that will be of no use to him.

There are only 5 things that an ice fisherman really need to enjoy your experience: A drill, a portable shelter, a heater Mr. stoves, a vane, and an ice bar ice decent templates. Why a vane support both? # 1.) I read thoroughly so you can find the exact location drop-offs and lake are structure (in some cases it may be 6 feet above a drop or a school of fish and will not get a bite). # 2.) "Real time" you can watch your template and ice attract fish by actually being affected jig and fish (in most cases you can watch fish and their staff know success when to attack them). # 3.) Being able to see "thermocline" is very important in ice fishing. Fish usually hover around the thermocline, if you have a vane can know exactly where (and in what depth) to make your template or ug / minnow. Even a casual fisherman wants to catch fish. Owning a vane can help his father catch fish 5 times, while ice fishing. Electronics are important when "soft water fishing, but when his ice fishing is imperitive.
