Humminbird Fish Finder not working properly?
I bought a boat with a Humminbird locator Sirena, but is not working properly. When lit and after passing through its start-up routine, there is a horizontal line at the top of the screen and a figure ( "15 M" – presume 15 m) shown in the bottom of the screen. It remains that way no matter what, regardless of the depth, speed, etc. It definitely does not show the contour of the seabed, etc. or any fish that sometimes use the boat in shallow water and wiser would be a real help. The transducer is mounted on the mirror Aft. The diagnostic system shows that the transducer is connected. Someone mentioned to me that there must be a film of oil (?) Below the transducer. Is this right? How can I test the transducer?
I had some questions about my Humminbird fish finder / sonar. I called and they were very friendly Humminbird and answered all my questions. It also ordered some parts from them and were reasonably priced and arrived immediately. I've never heard of a transducer grease lol .. but I know that using a transducer inside the hull they recommend a special epoxy. Good luck!
