
Yacht charter in the Southern Cyclades
The areas prevailing wind during the summer months is the infamous Meltemi blowing from the N-NW. First, it felt in June and becomes stronger through July, August and September, when it can reach force 8. He died in October. In spring and autumn winds are typical of the N and SE. The summer months are hot, average temperatures are 25 degrees C and temperatures often reaching 35 º C.
Milos is the southwest of the Cyclades. A large bay, Ormos Milou, was excavated in an ancient volcano erupted Hot Sulfur Springs, and still exist today. Adham is the port Island Go bow or stern of the ferry pier E or subjected to smaller pier to the E. It is also possible to anchor off the short pier SE. The fund is of mud and rock weed and poor holding in places. There is good shelter from the Meltemi but southerly winds can produce dangerous conditions. There is water on the ferry quay and fuel can be delivered. Most provisions can be obtained in the village and there are some taverns. Up the hill to the Chora and the stunning views Milos Bay. There are several other anchorages in the bay that are exposed to the north. No services in any of them. Apollonia is in the NE of Milos. Go bow or stern into the dock or anchor on the beach. Holding is good a sandy bottom. There are tavernas and a mini-market on earth. Ormos Voudhia lies one mile south of Apollonia. There is good shelter from the Meltemi, but the environment is unattractive, with open pit mines and a spring and mineral company for all to view.
Kimil is NE of Milos. There are two anchors in Ormos Sikia in the southwest of the island. They are exposed to the N – NW and inappropriate when the Meltemi blows. Pirgonisi is a long sandy beach on the south shore and yachts can anchor along almost anywhere in an attractive environment. Good participation in the sand and weeds. Psathi is more along the east coast. Go to the arcs or at quay. There is little shelter from the Meltemi and yachts are advised to use this anchorage in calm weather only. There are a couple of tavernas ashore and limited provisions can be obtained in the village. Just north is Semina Creek and yachts can anchor in the bay. As Psathi, there is little shelter from the Meltemi and Psathi be used only in time of calm.
The in northwestern island isolated Poliagos there is a lovely anchorage just south of the small island of Moanolsi. There is no shelter from the Meltemi and conclusion good on the sandy bottom. On the south side of the island there are several creeks that can be anchored yachts in when conditions are calm.
Folegandros is another barren island rocky, with the exception of small Chora in the NE that is among the green trees and shrubs. Ferry Port on the island is Karavostasi. Go bow or stern to the dock in the south side of the arm extends to the west. There are poor people in the venues in the sand and rock. No affordable housing is the Meltemi. There are several taverns, but the provisions can be difficult to obtain and the island is totally dependent on supplies from the shuttle. W side of Folegandros is the great bay, Ormos Vathi. You can only use in calm weather and there is no exploitation in poor places in the sand and weeds.
Is at E Sikinos Folegandros. Ormos Skala is the only port on the island. Yachts can anchor to berth or off. There are tavernas ashore and some provisions may be obtained. The scenery is attractive and popular with Greek tourists.
3.5 miles east of Sikinos Ios lies. It says Homer is buried here. He died aboard a passenger ship on Samos to Athens and his body was thrown overboard and then Ios thrown. Go bow or stern on port port of Ios. There is an excellent participation in the mud. A mini truck can deliver fuel and water are available in a public fountain in the square. There are taverns around the port and most provisions can be obtained. The resort is very popular among the young and most the bars of loud music in the evenings. Ormos Milopotamou lies S of the port of Ios. In the north of the bay there are 4 bays where yachts can anchor the two Asians provide the best shelter. Holding is good in the sand. There are inns and hotels on the beach. Ormos Manganari is a large bay on the south coast of Ios, it is possible to anchor in the bay with good holding sand. There are taverns ashore.
Milos Thira is similar to the extent of what is a volcano when it erupted in 1440 – 1450 BC C. Bay was established as it is today. The closure extends Thirasia islands, Palaia and Nea Kammeni Kammeni are also part of this volcanic structure. Around Basin, on the cliffs 300 feet high you will see white houses of the Cyclades, with windows painted blue hanging from the black volcanic rocks pure sea rise all groups together to Thira is one of the most popular destinations in Greece.
Finikia is located in the N of Thira. W anchorage to the pier in 10-20m with a line of travel, because the bottom is rocky. The limited housing the Meltemi and fully open to Skala Thira S. is the port of the island's capital on the steep slopes up. Go bow or stern to the dock with a line for the large mooring buoy. Leaving is difficult with the confusion of many lines attached to the buoy and it is recommended that yachts not left unattended. There is water in the dock and several taverns in the port.
On the south shore of Ak Akrotiri is a series of anchors which provide good shelter from the Meltemi. The fund remains well in the sand, but often there is some swell rolling yachts that causes evil. Monolithos a small port on the coast E. Skip links to the jetty near his limb with a timeline. There is a tavern and showers on the ground.
Thirasia is the westernmost island, and the anchoring only Ayios Nikolaos. Small craft can anchor off, but the small dock, is reserved for local boats. There are tavernas ashore and some provisions are available in the village on top of cliffs.
Kammeni Nea has a series of small coves where a yacht can anchor. A line of travel should be used as the background is full of rocks to snag an anchor. Nea Kammeni is known for his big problem with rats and there are many reports of getting on board yachts.
Anafi is the southernmost of the Cyclades. It has an anchor in the S shore is exposed. The island is arid and dry and not miss much if you decide not to visit.
