There are hundreds of types of types of fishing lures, with thousands of inequality within each group. But decoys are more than oscillating bright spoons and templates. There is a real science dedicated to the manufacture of each.

Here is a high level description of fishing most common lures and characteristics that make them successful.

Spoons have the form (as the name implies) and a spoon in their box of stuff we do not expect to be too effective in catching fish. Templates are particularly effective in capturing Alaska, perch and a variety of fish. Often lead to a drop in the shape of a head of small fish, with an eye on one end and a hook in the another. With proper frequency with a tail made of rubber or bait (fish, leeches and night crawlers are the most common), the template is a favorite fishing lure many fishermen.
