This is not the first time this type of question. I am also a K9 handler and have had few vests donated to our K9 unit several years ago by people who have the same thoughts as you do. Though very generous and thoughtful, are just not very practical. A reason is that the jackets too hot dogs, and another is that adding too much excess weight to your body. These are important factors to consider, because there is a possibility very real that you could use for a couple of hours sometimes very warm weather, which will burn much faster dogs for a long search. A study (I'm not sure when) about gunshot wounds involving K9, and found that when a person lies and that is apprehended or is about to be apprehended, The K9 is a shot in the head of most of the time. A vest would therefore be ineffective. So you see cruelty, not animals. What is, is a very kind gesture was generous with the best intentions of people who care about our partners in everything we do. It is unfortunately not very practical piece of equipment.
