I am after a marine handheld GPS, Any advice?
I just got a small boat and plan to use it throughout the country (especially coastal). I would appreciate any suggestions as to not know much about them, thanks
There are many styles of handheld GPS units available with different features and prices. Your question suggests that you're probably fairly new to GPS. If so, probably not much more than spending a fortune on a computer that has features you do not understand or are not going to use, why not start by buying a lower end Garmin or Magellan features Basic and learn to manage it properly. Then you will be able to go out and buy a GPS that is most appropriate for their particular needs. The old GPS receiver becomes a backup unit useful. Be careful though, GPSs provide information on how to reach a destination in the straightest line, without considering things like points of outcrop and shallow. They are by no means a guarantee that you will arrive safely. Always use appropriate graphic designs and practices safe navigation. While GPS is a navigation aid, can lead to the place of the next crisis with the same ease.
