OSHA requires a monthly review of fire extinguisher, can someone tell me exactly what I'm looking for?
Portable fire extinguishers must visually inspected monthly by 1910.157 (e) (2). The inspection should ensure that: 1. Extinguishers are in your assigned, 2. Fire extinguishers are not blocked or hidden, 3. Fire extinguishers are installed in accordance with NFPA No. 10 (portable fire extinguisher), 4. Pressure gauges show adequate pressure extinguisher (CO2 must be weighed to determine if leakage has occurred), 5. Pin and seals are in place; 6. Fire extinguishers present no visual sign of damage or abuse; 7. Nozzles are free of obstruction. Keeping a fire extinguisher, a complete examination, including disassembly and inspection of each part and replace if necessary. Maintenance should be done at least annually or more frequently if conditions warrant. Hydrostatic testing of portable fire extinguishers is done to protect against unexpected service failure. This can be caused by internal corrosion, external corrosion, damage caused by abuse, etc. Hydrostatic testing must be performed by trained personnel with appropriate test equipment and facilities.
