Module 1 is the Introduction to Yachting Certificate

The International Certificate Recreation crew is divided into six modules, the module 2 starts and we will learn about safety on board a ship and use the life raft and first aid kit, fire extinguishers, flares, life jackets and safety harnesses. What kind of clothes and shoes suitable for different conditions are met while sailing. Dizziness and symptoms, causes and prevention. On the practical side, Release 3, you will learn how to coil and secure a line to a cleat, tie a large number of knots and the use of lathes. You will look at some candles plus handling techniques, there is more work with charts and compass and to conclude you have a look at the office marine, etiquette and good manners.

The next practical module includes safety checks and look through hull accessories, warning engine lights and alarms and emergency fuel cut. You will learn more deck crew berthing and mooring routines. A more sail, bending, lifting, descent, reefing mainsail, handling sheets, lines, halyards, outhauls and sail trim. You will learn more skills at the helm, tacking, jibing, sailing a triangular course, sailing a compass heading and heave.

Module 6 covers the theory and practice of Dinghy and handling tender. You will learn the different types of tenders, engines, spare parts and maintenance and safety equipment. On the practical side to learn to row, how move under power, launch and recovery and transfer to and from boat to boat or dock.

This section concludes with an assessment of knowledge theoretical and practical skills acquired. In this course you will be a useful crew member on any small yacht.

The operator Radio / Communications Certificate is a separate module. You learn to operate a radio, emergency calls, calling the ship to ship, ship to shore, the types of radios available marine and rules governing its use. The examination concludes the course.

The next 5 modules are the International Watchkeeper / Flotilla Skipper Certificate

Number 8 is theoretical and looks at the responsibilities of an officer on duty, letters and chartwork, compass, magnetism, and concludes with a look at the buoys and marks.

The next practical module focuses on security, including a briefing to be given to crew members when they join the ship and looks at the kitchen area, which if not used correctly can be a danger to all those on board. The rest of the section is devoted to boat handling and develops the skills learned at the International Recreational Crew Certificate.

Back to the theory in the form below with a look basic first aid. More work is done with the International Regulations for preventing collisions. Finally, take a look further at the customs marine, customs, and today more and more legal requirements.

In module 11, the next practical step will develop a plan of passage, while conducting a further short passage work in the boat handling skills.

This section concludes with an assessment of knowledge and practical skills acquired.

It has now reached a level that entitles the International Certificate of Competence or the ICC. It is suggested that the captains of ships be to celebrate this by some European countries. Never been asked for mine clearance by the authorities and I do not know of anyone. It is also suggested that some companies require before allowing a letter from a boat. The following three modules form the International Standard Bareboat Certificate and looks for the first time in taking charge of a vessel and the necessary controls on the hull and rigging, machinery and systems, tools, safety equipment, spare parts, tools, fuel, water and supplies. It is seen in the tides and currents and what causes them. You will learn to use the tide tables and understand primary and ports side. There are some more chartwork which includes determination of the situation and chart a way forward to counteract a current. The section concludes with a look at the responsibilities of the master, their communication with the delegation of the crew.

On the practical side will develop sailing skills with cover more work in general, ropes, knots, splices, care and use of the lines. There are more work-handling vessels, including anchoring, docking, mooring, management and manipulation in restricted areas with the currents.

This section concludes with the module 16 and includes a look at the time and information sources weather, personal observation, weather patterns, land and sea breezes, the different cloud formations, rain and fog. You will learn pilotage. There is a deep look into the planning of passage between pilot books, almanacs, considerations for passage planning, coastal passages, passage strategy, port regulations, pilotage plans. Finally, take a look further at the International Regulations for Collision Avoidance.
